For U.K based luthiers and collectors of shiny things.

Coopers of Stortford, those people who put their catalogue into weekend newspapers, have 80 stainless steel pegs for sale for £9.99. They are also offering free delivery with an offer code. I don't know if it can only be used once but the code on my catalogue is 3ETDT.

My pegs arrived yesterday and they are very good with a good strong spring.

Thanks for the heads up, looks like a good deal.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

In England, they're all pegs, far as I know.

In India I discovered they're made of plastic and called "clips," turns out they should be called "snaps." At least that's what about half of them did the first time I tried to use them!
